    Peak: Mid-November through the third week of December. Late November is arguably the sweet spot: courtship at full intensity, egg-laying beginning, oakum boys mid-moult, elephant seals still on the beaches, and fur seal numbers not yet at their most obstructive. By late December fur seals are dense and territorial enough to restrict beach movement.

    Peak: November through January. November–December gives courtship and freshest adult plumage on the same cycle as South Georgia; January adds small chicks. Falklands king numbers are small and the colony is present year-round.
