- Dawn mist sitting in the valley below the canopy walkway is the signature Danum image, orangutan or not.

- Danum Valley is a conservation area with controlled access. Verify current permit and guide requirements.
- Getting there
- Fly to Lahad Datu via Kota Kinabalu, then road transfer. Borneo Rainforest Lodge is the comfortable option; the research centre is cheaper and more basic. Kinabatangan is boat-based, more reliable for sightings, but the habitat is a degraded riparian corridor and it shows in backgrounds.
